When Rigg's father dies, Rigg is set on a quest to find his mother and sister whom he didn't know was alive. To help Rigg on his journey is his young friend Umbo who recently ran away from home because of a fight he had with his parents.
Also helping Rigg on his quest is his special ability -- Rigg can see the paths of where people have gone and where they have been. He can tell people's path apart just like we can tell people apart one from each other.
Along the way to Aressa Sessamo where Rigg's mother and sister live, Rigg and Umbo pick up a protector, Loaf, who agrees to help them along the way for payment. But Loaf soon becomes a friend and confidant and not only learns about Rigg's special ability, but he learns about Umbo's special ability too. Umbo can slow down time or make it go faster.
Together, Rigg, Umbo and Loaf share many adventures on the way to Aressa Sessamo. It is when Rigg gets to Aressa Sessamo and finds out who his mother and sister really are that the adventures really begin!
This was a fun, easy to read book that I must admit was probably a little on the juvenile side. It was probably meant for teenagers, but I didn't realize that when I picked it up. It was still a good read and one I'd recommend for one of those times when you don't want to have to think hard about what you are reading.
