In this book he discovers what the Crystal City really is and how it will be built and by whom.
He and Arthur Stuart also begin a quest to save over 5000 black slaves from their cruel masters. Thus begins the trek to the site where the Crystal City will be built with the 5000 black slaves as the ready-made population for the new city.
Meanwhile Arthur Stuart is set upon an extra mission - he is sent to Mexico to tell Calvin (Alvin's brother) that he must leave Mexico before the volcano erupts. The Indians are making the volcano erupt to stop the Mexican's from performing human sacrifices. Calvin of course, won't listen and Arthur Stuart is forced to leave Mexico without him.
This series is six books in total and has been very fun to read. It makes up a whole new beginning to our United States and names things slightly different and has recognizable people in the plot (like Abraham Lincoln who was featured in this last book and who was still honest to a fault!). I liked to read it and compare the real life people in the books to who I know they truly are and see how close or far apart they were in the story. It was definitely a great ride to read these books and I'd recommend them to anyone who like fantasy fiction or anyone who just wants to get away for a little while in an alternate universe.
