Along with Lilli on this trip down the river is her best friend from childhood, Jerome Bah. He presents his own mystery to Lilli which she is desperately trying to figure out on the trip.
There is another mystery, an elder of the Navajo tribe is found dead with both male and female body parts from coyotes stuffed into his mouth. Lilli is also unsure whether her friend Jerome has a part in this crime.
This was an interesting book to read because it gave a lot of information about the Navajo religion. As a child, I desperately wanted to be an Indian - so this was fun for me to read. I guess the biggest problem I had with this book was that the intentions of the person who murdered the tribal elder weren't really clear. Other than that - the book kept me interested and wanting to read more.
