When Rosemary was 5, the chimp was sent away leaving a huge hole in the family that no one ever talked about. Her older brother even left home because of the chimp's absence.
We meet up with Rosemary when she is in college. She begins to tell us the story of her childhood and growing up with a chimp, alongside the story of her present life in college.
This is a book full of introspection - which I found really enjoyable. I really liked reading how the characters learned to perceive their past and how they came to grips with that past and the turmoil that existed over the disappearance of the chimp.
