He also just recently bought land and built an outrageously large house in Finden, Massachusetts where his one and only neighbor is trying to oust him from his house.
Charlotte Graves' family had willed the land to the town and she believes the town sold the land to Doug Fanning illegally and that based on the will the land should revert back to the family.
Nate Fuller, a tutoring student of Charlotte Graves is fascinated by Doug Fanning and while he likes Charlotte, he likes Doug a lot more. He promises Doug to get him papers from Charlotte's house that will help Doug in the lawsuit.
Charlotte's brother Henry is trying to get Charlotte to move and to give up the lawsuit. As President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank he is also responsible for every bank underneath him in his district - including Union Atlantic.
The author and the characters in this book weave a taught story of the banking industry. It gave me an insight into the industry that even the last few years monetary crisis hasn't given me. For this reason I thought the book was really interesting.
