Oliver, who is from England, caught her actual trial 10 years before when he was touring the US. He believes that there is more to Noa's story than she is telling and that there may be a way to get a stay of execution.
Noa is very pragmatic about how she got to where she is and doesn't try to say that she is innocent. She does not believe that there is anything that Oliver can do about her looming execution date, which is 6 months away.
As you move closer to the execution date, more of the story comes out. Noa's father, his girlfriend and the victim's mother all turn out to have interesting relationships with Noa. These people, while not at fault for the murder, all play a role leading up to the murder.
