Ash has harrowing tales to tell both on her way to and from war as well as during the war itself.
I liked this book because of the interesting twist on the 'going to war' story. What I didn't like about this book was that Ash narrates the book in a non-educated, farmer's wife colloquialism that ends up grating on your nerves. This book would have been far better if the narration part of the book was in normal English and then when Ash spoke, she could speak in her bad English. All I did throughout the book is mentally correct her English. Which was a distraction to say the least.
