I had problems with this book from the beginning. The fact that the woman was a doctor in the 12th century seems ridiculous to me - since we all know how women were treated back then.
Secondly, the collective medical knowledge in that century was practically worthless. To have a medical examiner that actually poured over corpses to get answers on how they died is even more ludicrous.
However, if you suspend all belief and just go for the ride in this book, - then you will have a very enjoyable read. I did this while reading and found the book to be very fun and interesting. I am giving this book a higher mark than I probably should because it was a good read despite the inconsistencies.
