As a serial killer, he loves to re-visit crime scenes either in the weeks before or after the kill so he can reminisce about the girl he killed. He also enjoys picking up the newspaper and reading about his crimes.
This book takes place between the 1920's and the early 1990's the time that Kirby lives. Kirby is one of Harper's victims, but she survived. As an intern at a newspaper she starts looking over stories the newspaper has published in its past regarding crimes that were similar to hers.
As Kirby is on the hunt to find the man who tried to kill her, she is faced with articles that are left at the previous crime scenes that don't make sense. For example, birth control pills lying next to a woman who was killed in the 1950's.
Kirby's character is more thought out and has more depth than the character of the serial killer - whom I found a little flat. Other than that, this book was interesting as it was a new twist on a crime spree.
